David Frisbie, DVM, PhD, MS, Diplomat of the American College of Veterinary Surgeons (DACVS)got his degree at the University of Wisconsin, and then completed a surgical internship at Cornell University in New York. He earned a Masters Degree in Joint Pathobiology at Colorado State University while completing a surgical residency. During work on his PhD. Dr. Frisbie became Board certified in Large Animal Surgery and is a Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Surgeons.

Post-residency, Dr. Frisbie began research on treating joint disease using novel methods such as gene therapy and IRAP

In addition to his time with Equine Sports Medicine, Dr. Frisbie is an Associate Professor of Equine Surgery at Colorado State and a Senior Scientist at the Orthopedic Research Center where he works on new technology for diagnoses and treating musculoskeletal problems.

Dr. Frisbie's current joint disease research is in two basic fields, the evaluation of intra-articular therapeutics and their effects on joint disease and new methods of cartilage repair. These methods include cutting edge technology aimed at arthroscopic repair of cartilage in the athletic horse. Dr. Frisbie is also exploring methods to augment fracture healing in both noninfected and infected cases using gene transfer. Dr. Frisbie brings 17 years of experience in equine lameness and specialization in surgery to Equine Sports Medicine.
